                                    Report of ECO CLUB (2023-2024)

                     To commemorate the 3rd anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020,the school has undertaken a sensitization campaign on the environmental concern for students.To acquire knowledge about our environment and to contribute towards its betterment,St. George Public School has formed an ‘ECO CLUB’. On 28th July 2023, World Nature conservation Day was observed. The programme was inaugurated by the Principal. This club organized various activities and programmes to increase awareness among students about improving environmental conditions such as speech, planting  saplings, seminars, making posters, art with leaves etc.

                     ECO club in the school helped the students to understand their pivotal roles in conserving natural resources and limiting waste. Their participation in various activities helped them to understand, have respect and care for their environment and  their mother land.

The main objectives of this club were:-

* To create a “clean and green consciousness” among students through various  innovative methods and activities.

* To involve the students in ‘clean and green consciousness’ through various innovative methods and activities.

* To make them understand the ill effects of degradation of land.

* To teach them solid waste management techniques.

* To make students learn about water conservation.

*  To conduct various competitions such as quizzes, poster making, essay writing, leaf  art and drawing competitions that would serve as a platform for their creative output into practical work.

* To motivate students to practice plantation of saplings that have specific properties like controlling  air pollution.

Activities for the Academic Year (2023- 2024)

* A speech was conducted related to World Nature Conservation Day. Students of class– X conducted a special assembly and gave an awareness speech on the occasion.

* A Seminar was conducted on Environment awareness by the ECO Club on 3^rd   August 2023. Students of classes – XI and XII gave awareness class on the importance of preserving the environment, Importance of tree plantation, Water and energy conservation, Pollution control etc. They elaborated the various  ways in which students could be involved and encouraged to take active part in preserving the environment and  spreading awareness.

* In connection with the plantation campaign, “One Child, One Plant”, ECO club organized a tree plantation and cleanliness drive in and around the school Campus. Members of ECO club organized the planting drive. All the students from all the classes planted saplings according to their convenience. Some of the students planted the saplings at school premises and some of them at home.

* A discussion was held in the classes about the importance of tree plantation. The  instructions were given how to take care of the plants.

* ECO club conducted a poster making competition for the students of classes – 5 to 9.

* The club also conducted a “leaf art” competition, where students of classes - 7 to 9 made posters with leaf.

* The members of ECO Club donated saplings to school, and they took care of the plants by watering and providing fertilizers as required. The responsibility of the plants has been given to the students.
